LEGISLATORS are to be included on the panel which will decide how to spend $300 million allocated to improve language training.
The request for funding was rejected when it was put to councillors last month, and they asked that their representatives be included on the Advisory Committee for the Language Fund.
It will also include language experts, educationalists and representatives from the Government, commerce, industry and the professions.
It would be chaired by a non-official, the Director of Education, Dominic Wong Shing-wah, told legislators yesterday.
The request paper to be submitted to the Finance Committee next week would be much more detailed than the last one and take into consideration the opinions of councillors, he said.
According to the paper, the committee will then draw up procedures to operate and allocate the fund.
