Zeffirino Regal Hongkong Hotel, 88 Yee Wo Street, Causeway Bay, 28371799 Fare Italian. Ambience The restaurant offers panoramic views of Victoria Harbour and the park. The interior design blends in with the rest of the hotel which is more old-school. Cost About HK$650 for a two-course or three-course meal without wine. Who to bring Your parents, in-laws and long-term partners to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. Turn-ons The beef carpaccio (pictured) with parmesan cheese and rocket leaves, and sea bass tartar with capers and anchovies in lemon oil made great starters. The beef carpaccio dish had the perfect ingredients - the cheese was finely grated before being drizzled with oil. Both dishes went well with the good range of Italian bread, served with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The pasta dishes, which came in the right portions, were simple and effective. The menu remains true to the Italian roots, offering all the classics with a luxury edge: lobster tagliatelle with tomato sauce was rich and so was the risotto. The grilled lamb chops, served with artichokes and lentil puree, were fresh and tender. The pan-fried veal escalopes, with garlic, parsley and merlot wine sauce, was well prepared and delicious. No surprises with the desserts here, which were all light and refreshing. The warm gooey chocolate cake, with the soft melting centre, was pure heaven. Turn-offs You won't get any surprises here as the a la carte menu offers a safe choice of dishes. There wasn't much of a buzz in the dining room; everyone seemed to come here for a quiet and private meal. Although every dish was well within expectations, with the price tag you would expect something more innovative. Drinks Not extensive and mostly from southern Italy. A small selection is handpicked by head chef Marco Torregrossa to accompany the menu.
