You are one of 17 participants in the Hong Kong International Artists' Workshop 2008: 4x4 programme. What have you've planned for this exercise?
Mixed-media and installation artist Kurt Chan Yuk-keung (below)
'I plan to create an artwork jointly with secondary students at the Kowloon Technical School [in Sham Shui Po]. I'll organise a few lessons to stimulate their thinking.
I haven't developed a concrete idea yet, but the theme will probably be related to physics.
'Another idea I have is to transform a stall in Apliu Street into an exhibition venue. Apliu Street is a very interesting place where you get things related to lighting, audio and electronic. I'll use materials that can be found in Apliu Street to create the works. Ideally, I hope I can bring the work developed at the school to Apliu Street and interact with the people on the street. Since this is an experiment, no one can predict the final result accurately. I don't want to have absolute control of the result. I want to be inspired, not just be the one inspiring the students.'
