The Hong Kong Medical Association is urging people to become healthier and happier by walking 8,000 steps or more a day. Its campaign is aimed at highlighting the importance of daily exercise to physical and mental health. 'Generally speaking, Hong Kong people ... walk a mere 4,000 steps a day,' chairman Choi Kin said. At least 8,000 steps per day would burn 150 calories and reduce the risk of heart disease and high blood pressure, he said.
