'Recruitment of more staff is essential to meet growing demand for our medical treatment,' said Fan Wong Siu-fong, the hospital's quality assurance manager, planning and training officer and principal of its nursing school. 'As we expand, we are steadily working and focusing on refining and upgrading our services to provide an efficient, reliable, consistent and customer-centred service to the people of Hong Kong and the Asia-Pacific.'

With its pioneering technology for treating a range of conditions, the Union Hospital is attracting a growing number of private patients from across the region, she noted.

'It was always our intention to be international,' said Mrs Fan, as indicated by the hospital's original name, the Sha Tin International Medical Centre Union Hospital.

Among the new vacancies, 34 are for registered nurses, nine registered midwives and 10 enrolled nurses. Another 48 are for ward assistants, and nine for technicians and the dispensary.
