Speaking between the acts of a dress rehearsal for an English musical at a northern Tin Shui Wai primary school, the girl, who asked not to be named, said she had never met her real mother.
'But drama can be a refuge for me to leave the studying stress and family sorrows behind, even for just a while,' she said.
When performing, she lit up, part of a 95-member cast preparing to put on the English musical Annie.
It will be performed at Yuen Long Theatre next weekend.
The musical is a HK$200,000 production backed by the board of the Christian Alliance SY Yeh Memorial Primary School.
