Comic capers

Luella This season the Luella girl has a healthy obsession with comic books, specifically Ghost World and its heroine Thora Birch. The collection goes through the stages of a geeky girl's transformation into a fully fledged superhero. She starts life with a flower-print blouse, a pleated mini skirt, a pair of wide rimmed black specs and yellow patent boots; moves on to a silver tonic suit and yellow strapless mini; and ends up in a shiny floral sequinned dress. Colours are strong and bright - yellow, red, blue - and over-dyed floral prints are prevalent. Bags are big, plastic and colourful with plenty of pockets for superhero gadgets, or cute vintage-inspired granny handbags.
