Perilous Mouths Entertainment

Fringe Theatre, Fringe Club

Until May 10, 8pm

British author Ben Elton turns his satirical eye to American people in black comedy Popcorn, adapted from his best-selling novel, which plays this week at the Fringe Club in this Perilous Mouths Entertainment production.

Bruce Delamitri directs violent, perverse films about killing and killers. On Oscar night, he is kidnapped by simple-set maniacs Wayne and Scout, who kill with the detached menace Delamitri passionately depicts in his movies.

'It's an attempt to understand America, a democratic society that has a unique fascination with extreme violence and perverse sex,' says director Clare Stearns, who also directed Murder under the Mistletoe and Company last year. 'It's black comedy, drama and satire, ultimately asking questions about who holds responsibility for violence, both in the movies and in life.'
