Professionals share their experience of relocation
For years, Terron Hung begrudgingly travelled between Macau and Hong Kong to complete his university degree.
Hong Kong-born Mr Hung said he had no interest in living or working in Macau, and only went there to complete his bachelor of business administration degree at the University of Macau.
'In the beginning I didn't have a full schedule of classes and so would spend as little time in Macau as I possibly could,' he said. 'I was only staying two nights a week and definitely never on the weekends. I didn't really like the place very much.'
That was more than 10 years ago and Mr Hung now calls Macau home. After leaving high school he worked for a Hong Kong training company and then decided to go to university.
'I went to the United States for a while but I had to come back to Hong Kong for personal reasons and then sent out applications to a range of universities,' he said. 'I got accepted in Macau and it was a process really. I started making myself stay for a weekend, then a month and I made some friends and the place didn't seem so bad after a while.'
