Having shrunk the laptop with its EeePC, Asus is hoping to do the same with the desktop, creating two new affordable models.
The company's new EeeDesktop PX20 and Nova P22 are both small and come without monitors like a typical desktop set-up.
Measuring 231 x 184 x 51 mm, both the EeeDesktop and the Nova are only slightly bigger than the 'first' mini PC on the market, Apple's Mac Mini. While they are the same size, the two Asus models are clearly targeted at two very different markets.
Aimed at the home entertainment market, the Nova is powered by an Intel Core 2 Due processor running at 1.86GHz and has full DVI and HDMI support for connection to your TV and playing back multimedia content.
It also comes with a remote control and built-in 802.11n wireless connection, as well as Windows Vista, a DVD-RAM optical drive, 1GB of RAM and a 150GB hard drive.
The EeeDesktop, on the other hand, runs on a 900M Intel Celeron chip, with 1GB of RAM, 80GB hard disk, and runs Windows XP. The configuration is basically the same as the EeePC but with a hard disk and a DVD drive.
