Olivia Chantecaille, daughter of Chantecaille founder Sylvie (below), talks about the importance of the right foundation and drawing your best features out.

'Hong Kong women don't really wear a lot of makeup, they are timid with their makeup. I think it's because they are really focused on skin care and don't know how to apply it. The right foundation is very important. It's like having your best pair of black pants that go with everything. Once you find the right pair you are very loyal.

'There are so many options out there you just need to try a few different foundations before finding the right one. Picking one depends on your lifestyle as does the way in which you apply it.

'I believe there are finger, sponge and brush people; don't force yourself to become something you're not. If you like using your finger to apply makeup, then do so as many people will try brushes just because someone says they should but will end up not using them.

'My other tip is to highlight either your eyes or lips - not both. If you're going to a dinner party then highlight your eyes as after you've eaten or even while you are eating you will probably wipe off the lipstick onto the napkin.

If you're going to a cocktail party you can do the opposite by painting your lips bright red.'
