The skinny on the newest albums Fans of singer-songwriter YUI will be delighted by the plucky songstress' third studio album, I Loved Yesterday. The 13 songs include My Generation, Love & Truth, Namidairo and Oh Yeah, picked as the theme song to Japanese morning TV show Mezamashi TV. If you liked her previous work, you won't be disappointed - this collection features more of YUI's unique guitar rock. But unfortunately, YUI shows no real growth musically - these songs would be equally comfortable on either of her earlier albums. If you do decide to buy this, get the special edition - the bonus DVD includes four earlier music videos: Good-bye Days, I Remember You, CHE.R.RY and Rolling Star, a song used on the anime Bleach. The DVD also includes footage from YUI's sell-out live performance at Budokan (considered the premiere event location for concerts in Japan). This makes this album an even bigger bargain, as most of the concert is included. Performances include It's Happy Line, Life, Love & Truth, Ruido, Jam, and a very moving solo guitar performance of Tokyo that ends the concert. It may not be her best album to date, but the inclusion of all this bonus material warrants an extra star.
