Good Morning America

THE gods were smiling down on the folks from Good Morning America when the programme started its week-long transmission from Hong Kong yesterday.

Not only did the weather stay favourable for the outdoor broadcast with anchors Joan Lunden and Charles Gibson (above), but a US Navy aircraft carrier with its crew parading shipshape on deck steamed past unexpectedly.

How our cosmopolitan hamlet will be portrayed on the show the next few days will tell. Although with one crew spending so many hours filming our social illuminati, it had us wondering whether the Americans might be given the impression that Hong Kong wasa socialite state.

In fact, so diligent was the crew in chronicling the nocturnal activities of our partying classes that we were going to suggest the show be renamed Good Night Amer-ica!
