CHINA will never lose sight of the need to maintain stability in its drive to speed up development and intensify reform, premier Li Peng said yesterday.
Mr Li underscored the importance of balancing the need of maintaining ''stability, development and reform'' when meeting the visiting Slovak Prime Minister, Vladimir Meciar, in Beijing.
According to official reports, Mr Li said China would always give attention to maintaining a harmonious relationship between stability, development and reform.
In the course of speedy economic growth, he said, the Government would continue to take macro-control and regulatory measures to solve ''new contradictions and problems'' that arose.
Every reform measure would be implemented step by step and with consideration to the whole package of the reform blueprint, Mr Li said.
Mr Meciar is the first Slovak leader to visit China after the establishment of official ties.
