Inspired Baume & Mercier

The elegance of calla lilies help bring out the feminine side of new women's collection

Inspired by the elegance and sensual curves of calla lilies, the design of Baume & Mercier's latest collection, ilea, is steeped in the beauty of these popular flowers.

Specially dedicated to women, the collection features seven watches which come in different materials and designs.

But they also share common features. All the models in the ilea collection have an off-centre diamond on the crown. All the date displays are at 6 o'clock and the hands are dauphine-style rhodium-plated. The watches are all water resistant to 30 metres.

The women's watches are usually smaller than 30mm in diameter, but in this quartz collection, they are 30mm, making them easier to read.

Baume & Mercier strives for innovative changes by exploring new materials and fresh inspirations. The graceful, slender shape of the calla lilies inspired ilea's woman designer to blend these with the shapes of a woman's soft body curves.

The collection captures the most beautiful part of the life cycle when the plants blossom. This idea is featured on the ilea dials with fine guilloche curves on mother-of-pearl.

As Baume & Mercier says, 'If time were a woman, what shape would it be? Round, of course, with harmonious forms and sensual curves.'

Over the years, the brand has produced women's watches focusing on different themes - Riviera for sports, Classima Executives for professionals, Diamant for parties and two time-zone watches for travellers.

From polished steel for casual wear to gorgeous diamonds for special occasions, ilea's diverse styles represent action, elegance and luxury.

The plain steel model emphasises the sensual curve structure of the feminine watch. Another model in a steel case has diamonds set at 3o'clock and 9o'clock. And the most glamorous piece has its bezel fully adorned with diamonds, embracing the sparkling dial. Prices for the collection range from HK$14,000 to HK45,000.
