Samsung Electronics has cranked up the volume on its Anycall MusiCall series with the i458B, which it claims is the first music-dedicated S60 smartphone. The S60 is a software platform for mobile phones running the Symbian operating system. The i458B combines extensive music player capabilities with superb sound quality, delivered by an ICEpower Amplifier, from Danish audio-visual systems supplier Bang & Olufsen. The handset emulates the dual-slider format of Nokia's N95, which is another S60 smartphone. It slides up to reveal an alphanumeric keypad and down to reveal a powerful pop-up speaker. Located between the speakers is an ergonomically shaped touch wheel for easy switching between multimedia menus.
A 3.5G handset, the i458B has a dual-headset jack that allows two users to listen to music, a 3.5mm stereo headset jack and an FM radio. It also comes with a 2.4-inch screen, a 2-megapixel camera, 19 megabytes of internal memory and a micro-SDHC slot for up to 4 gigabytes of external flash memory. The Anycall MusiCall Series i458B costs HK$3,480.
