Olympics sponsor Samsung has chosen 1,400 torch-bearers in China to carry the Olympic flame - for their 'positive contribution to society or their ability to overcome difficulties to inspire and motivate others'. Multi-lingual policeman Liu Wenli, 41, fits into both categories. We met him where he works atop Jingshan Park, overlooking the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square.
What does your job here, at the top of the Coal Hill, entail?
I've worked here for eight years, advising Chinese and foreign tourists about Beijing, giving foreigners special protection and useful information about the park and other things in Beijing.
Which languages can you speak?
After Chinese, English is my first language, then French, and German is my third foreign language. I can speak some Dutch, Swedish, Japanese, Spanish and Russian.
How did you learn these languages?
