Nowadays, everyone seems to be under a lot of pressure at school or at work. Many people do not know how to relax. That's why it is always best to be optimistic. Research shows that people who have a positive outlook are healthier and live longer than those who are depressed. If we want to be more optimistic, we should make sure that we get enough sleep at night and spend time with our family at weekends. It's also important to do plenty of exercise, like hiking and taking part in sports. Participating in extra-curricular activities helps us to express ourselves and lifts our mood. We can also make more friends. We should always look at the positive side of things. Optimism is the key to success. Without it, we cannot recover from failure. We should believe in ourselves and be more optimistic. Then we can achieve anything. Nigel Wijoyo, California School From the Editor Thank you for your letter, Nigel. Although it can sometimes seem almost impossible to see the bright side of life, it's important that we make the effort to do so. In a world filled with horrific stories of war and natural disaster, we need to be aware of all the positive aspects of life. If we feel sorry for ourselves, we'll miss out on happy occasions. Besides, it's rather selfish to mope when there is such suffering in the world. Seeing the positive side of life also gives us more time to help those in need. When you realise how lucky you are, you can offer to help those who really are suffering. Besides, as you say, being positive makes you healthier. Stop moaning about your life and treasure all the good luck you have! Karly, Sub-editor
