School is a 'great place to work'

A multinational company with operations in 75 countries is seeking a talented individual to join its Hong Kong sales team.

Englishtown, the internet arm of EF Education First and the world's largest online English school with more than 150,000 students enrolling annually, wants to take on board a senior sales consultant or sales consultant.

The successful applicant will provide professional consultation to prospective customers, and achieve revenue targets through professional selling approaches.

Other duties range from handling incoming inquiries on a daily basis to participating in marketing activities and social functions to drive sales and customer referrals.

'Englishtown is the newest product in the EF Group and is a great place to work,' said Englishtown president Sam Cheung.

'We are the largest learning service provider in the world for English, with students from 130 countries, so we are very strong.'

He said that the company was an outstanding place to work because of its unique culture.

'We value great and capable people and our hiring strategy is getting the right people on the team, and then we figure out where to go from there,' he said.

Although inherent talent is a prerequisite, applicants are not required to have the necessary skills to do the job.

'If they have the potential, common sense and are bright, we want them and will really reward their achievements,' Mr Cheung said.

Applicants are advised that consultative selling or customer service experience is an advantage. Excellent communication skills are also a must, as is PC and internet literacy, fluent Cantonese and a good command of English.

He said that the new recruit would see the difference thanks to the company's six unique core values. These range from passion and integrity to attention to detail, cost consciousness and entrepreneurial spirit.

'We are not pencil pushers. We have a very thin management skin and very simple hierarchy with no office politics, and we make things very simple,' he said.

'I think these make a huge difference to the work environment and the way employees feel about working here.'

The new recruit will also be offered excellent training opportunities and a good career path with room to move vertically and across products.

Long-term career development opportunities on a regional and global level will be given to the right candidate.

In addition to Englishtown learning products, the new incumbent may eventually work overseas, to market MBA or university programmes, and financial and insurance products.

'We offer a very strong, unique culture in a true multinational company where people can grow,' Mr Cheung said.
