With the popularity of the Asus EeePC, it is no wonder that the big PC names are latching onto the idea of affordable sub-notebooks. The first one to do so is HP with its 2133 Mini-Note, which combines ultra portability with a reasonable price tag. Weighing only 1.19kg, the 2133 Mini-Note sports a 22cm display with a maximum resolution of 1280 x 768 dpi, and a keyboard that is only 8 per cent smaller than the standard. Inside the 2133 is a VIA C7-M ULV Processor running at 1.2 GHz, and featuring a 800 MHz Front Side Bus and 128KB of L2 Cache - basically this means there's a fast gateway and large waiting area for data to enter the core processor. The 2133 also comes with 2GB of DDR2 RAM, a 160GB hard disk, a VIA Chrome 9 graphics card, and integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Perhaps the only strange design element with the 2133 is the control pad which, instead of featuring the left and right mouse buttons below the pad like in most notebooks, has them on either side of the touch sensitive area, which might take some getting use to. According to information from HP, the 2133 comes in a variety of configurations, with different processor speeds and storage capacities, as well as a choice of operating systems. The configuration above is listed by Broadway and comes with Windows Vista Home Basic. The 2133 Mini-Note is listed at HK$4,999, but be sure to ask about the configurations as they may vary. Pros: ultra portable, big name, huge memory and hard disk, fast processor for this category Cons: VIA processor is new to the market, hence efficiency still unproven
