Felix gets nod in a clean run on eatery
THAT French purveyor of clean lines and minimalist form, Philippe Starck, is currently fine tuning his design for the spectacular restaurant he has devised atop the new Peninsula Tower, and all will soon be revealed.
That's the easy part. Now comes the vexed matter of giving it an identity. How does one find a name for an establishment bearing such an avant-garde signature such as Starck's? We understand a number of possible names for what will be the Pen's landmark restaurant were forwarded to Hong Kong and Shanghai Hotels chairman Michael Kadoorie for his consideration.
And Kadoorie, in a gracious gesture (and not without a tinge of sentimentality), has apparently decided on Felix - in tribute to Felix Bieger, who has rendered yeoman service to the Peninsula Group.
Nice touch that.
