Education institute graduates report an average 16pc increase in salary
Average salaries of Hong Institute of Education graduates rose by 16 per cent to HK$17,616 last year compared with 2006's average of HK$15,148. The institute's employment survey polled 807 graduates from last September to this January and found 96.1 per cent, or 733, were employed. Twenty-five said they were pursuing further studies, two were still seeking employment and 47 failed to respond to the question.
Community award honours HKUST student
Hong Kong University of Science and Technology has set up a student community service award, named after graduate Roy To Sze-chung, who died in a traffic accident last month while visiting Inner Mongolia with World Emergency Relief. Details of the Roy To Community Service Award are yet to be announced.
Same job, new university
Executive councillor Leung Chun-ying will step down as Lingnan University's council chairman after being appointed by Chief Executive Donald Tsang Yam-kuen this week to take up the same role at City University. The vacant position at Lingnan University will be filled by another executive councillor, Bernard Chan, in October. Both universities have welcomed the moves.
