Get ready for some incredible ninja action in new anime Nabari no O (King of Ninja World). Rokujo Miharu is an ordinary 14-year-old high school student until his world is turned upside-down
Written and illustrated by 25-year-old female mangaka Kamatani Yuhki, Nabari no O started off as a manga in the monthly anthology magazine GFantasy. The creator counts ninja mangas Naruto and Ninja Scroll amongst her favourites, so it wasn't surprising when she created her own.
The anime is produced by J.C. Staff in co-operation with Kamatani, which hopefully means a more faithful adaptation of her vision.
J.C. Staff is also responsible for hit anime shows like Azumanga Daioh, Ghost Hunt and Nodame Cantabile.
Nabari no O is set in present day Japan and centres on the aloof Miharu whose apathy makes him something of a loner.
When fellow student Aizawa Kouichi and school teacher Kumohira Thobari beg him to join their new school club Nindo (way of the ninja), Miharu turns their appeals down flat.
