What is it? The sort of travel toothbrush James Bond would pick: the Ohso (which stands for 'oh so simple') is a self-dispensing refillable toothbrush that combines sleek modern design with practicality. Available in chrome or clear plastic, it comes with one replacement bristle head, a tube of toothpaste and a universal adaptor.

How does it work? Toothpaste is stored inside the Ohso handle. Turn the rubberised knob at the end of the handle to dispense paste via a small nozzle onto the toothbrush bristles. You can see when paste is running low through a small window on the handle. To refill, attach a toothpaste tube to the handle and turn the same knob to create a vacuum that will pull the paste in. An online demonstration video is available at www.go-ohso.com.

Tell me more. The travel toothbrush can be used with any toothpaste, although Colgate tubes are 'plug compatible'. The adaptor (a small rubber plug) overcomes the problem of non-standard tubes. Bristles are replaceable and an O-ring on the cap prevents leakage during travel. Caps come in vented or non-vented versions; the latter doubles as a small cup for rinsing.

What's the downside? The bristles are available in one size and texture only. The handle only holds enough toothpaste for a few days.

Why do I need one? Ohso is ideal for stylish travellers who like to travel light; it is small enough to slip into a jacket pocket. The Ohso can be clipped to your pocket like a pen, although doing so is guaranteed to push you into the geek category.
