The University of Hong Kong team are the champion strategists after winning the McKinsey/HSBC Business Case Competition last month. The competition, held on May 28, was organised by the University of Hong Kong Asia Case Research Centre. It brought together teams from eight Hong Kong universities. The cases were unpublished and developed by a team of professional researchers at the centre. The cases were supervised by faculty from some of the world's most renowned academic institutions. Participating teams competed one-on-one through a series of rounds. Each team was given two hours to analyse a business strategy case. Then they had 20 minutes to present the case to a jury made up of Hong Kong's top business people. After the presentation, the judging panel grilled the participants on their proposed strategies, solutions and implementation. Members of the winning team were offered summer internships at management consultants McKinsey & Company and The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation. The Chinese University team took second place.
