ACTION 1 (A1) is a caring team founded by World Vision Hong Kong for primary school students in Hong Kong. In response to the United Nations' announcement of 1994 as the International Year of the Family, A1 is launching a Family Famine to raise funds for the needy families and children of the Third World. The Family Famine will take place between 10 am and 4 pm on March 6 at True Light Middle School, 1 True Light Lane, Kowloon Tong, Kowloon (near Kowloon Tong MTR station). Legislative Councillor Ms Peggy Lam will be the chief guest. The six-hour programme includes fun-filled activities for families, such as story-building, drama and games. Other recreational activities include environmental and family games, and talks on children's dental hygiene and child nutrition. To take part, families (comprising two to six members) need only to invite friends or relatives to sponsor them. They can then not only spend a happy day with their families, but also help disaster-stricken people in the Third World. Those interested should call Ms Hayley Chow on 394-4101 (ext. 252) for details and enrolment. As places are limited, they will be allotted on a first-come-first-served basis.
