For the first time, Bottega Veneta has been named the most prestigious women's luxury fashion brand in the 2008 Luxury Brand Status Index.
Loro of the high plains
Italian label Loro Piana has acquired a 2,000-hectare property in the Lucanas region on the Andean plane to be used as a reserve for the endangered vicuna, a relative of the llama. The initiative seeks to preserve the natural habitat of these animals to allow for observation and research.
Hospitality to a tee in Dubai
Lebanese couturier Elie Saab has signed a deal with Tatweer - a member of Dubai Holdings - to develop a chain of hotels in Dubai. The first, set to open in September 2009, will be situated in the Tiger Woods Dubai community and will overlook the golf course designed by Woods.
Emporio Armani's Asian face
Actor Takeshi Kaneshiro will be the face of Emporio Armani's autumn menswear campaign, making it the first time an Asian male will front a campaign for the Italian label.
Caped crusader goes bespoke
Giorgio Armani, who designed the costumes for Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne character in the upcoming Batman film, will also outfit the star for a series of campaigns promoting the label's made-to-measure service. The ads will coincide with the film's US release on July 15.
Longchamp bags Beijing
Longchamp has opened its first Beijing  boutique. Designed by Longchamp's interior design director Alexis Govaert, the 2,690 sq ft store will carry men's handbags and accessories,  bags and travel lines, and women's ready-to-wear. Anya Hindmarch has opened its first store in Shanghai (below) which will carry the label's collection of bags, footwear, luggage and travel accessories.
