FLUENT last start winner William's Leader can follow up on that success for trainer David Hill and provide punters with an excellent second leg banker in the Double Trio at Sha Tin on Derby Day.
While the eagerly awaited Classic is the race on everybody's lips, there are other attractive betting races on the card and handy stayer William's Leader can land this 1,800-metre Classes One and Two race.
William's Leader, who switched to Hill just after the start of the season, could scarcely have been more impressive when winning first-up for his new trainer over 1,600 metres at Sha Tin on January 8.
He made all under champion jockey Basil Marcus - an excellent judge of pace and at his most lethal when dictating terms from in front - and held off the fast-finishing Full Speed Ahead.
The runner-up duly franked that form with a superb second to leading Derby contender China Cruise two weeks ago. There is not much better form than that around at the moment.
William's Leader is a course and distance winner and he has come on nicely since his last start success. He will be absolutely spot-on for this event and it is not worth looking past him as far as a banker is concerned.
