It appears that Johnnie To Kei-fung is looking at Hollywood for one of his next film projects. Actor Tim Roth, currently doing the rounds promoting the new adaptation of The Incredible Hulk, where he plays the villain, just let slip in an interview for the website Ain't It Cool News that he has lined up on his calendar a 'Chinese thriller'. When prodded to disclose the specifics, Roth said: 'The deal is being done, but it looks like I'm off with Chow Yun-fat ... and Johnnie To! ... And the rewrites are in. And it's lookin' good!' It would appear this is the same rumoured project that also includes Orlando Bloom. CitySeen wasn't able to reach the director personally but his office acknowledged he was developing a Hollywood project. It wouldn't confirm any details, since it is still in development. The director's personal assistant did admit that he 'is currently developing the film screenplay with his long-time partner writer Wai Ka-fai from Mad Detective'. It was earlier reported that To had already spent 18 months on the script in addition to haggling with producers and agents. Also, originally it was to be set in London or France, but now it looks as if the setting is moving back to Hong Kong or Macau. Stay tuned.
