Singapore's thriving construction industry presents exciting opportunities for Geoconsult Asia, a Singapore-based firm of consulting engineers, which is looking for junior and senior structural and design engineers to service its increasing workload.
With an estimated US$5.4billion to be spent on new construction this year, Singapore is planning to undertake major infrastructure and redevelopment projects, including the extension of the Mass Rapid Transit underground railway, new stations, the 10-lane Marina Coastal Expressway, an integrated resort and a new national stadium.
Based on forecasts for Singapore and the region, Geoconsult Asia predicts the number of construction projects it is involved in will triple over the next few years.
The company does design work and construction supervision for civil engineering projects. It specialises in the design of tunnels for underground structures, and works in partnership or joint ventures with construction companies. The company is recruiting highly motivated geotechnical and design engineers - involved in structural design and site supervision - who are responsible for checking that construction companies implement Geoconsult's designs.
The engineers will be involved in the preparation, calculation and design stages to enable the draughtsmen to do the drawings used to build the structures. They will be required to make site visits, liaise with partner construction companies and prepare progress reports and recommendations on design implementations.
Applicants should have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering and preferably relevant experience in the field, working as geotechnical engineers or on underground construction.
