A man alleged to have killed his girlfriend in a jealous rage had spent days searching for her with her family and even one of her former boyfriends after she went missing in February, a court was told yesterday.
Dominic Soo Chun-sau had told police in a video interview that he was very worried some misfortune had befallen Tracey Chan Fung-han, 36, whose body was found in a remote part of Lau Fau Shan on February 27, the day after the interview.
The Court of First Instance heard Chan was found dead with multiple stab wounds in her chest and back near a fish pond at Ha Pak Na. She was last seen on February 7, when she and Soo had dinner at a restaurant at Lau Fau Shan.
Prosecutor Dee Crebbin told the jury Soo had killed Chan after finding she had arranged to meet a former boyfriend.
In the video interview shown to the court, Soo said he had spent most of his time searching for Chan after he went to Happy Valley Police Station with her family to report her missing on February 13.
He said that two days earlier he had met Chan's brother, who had asked him if he knew why Chan had been out of touch.
Soo said the missing woman, who suffered from low blood pressure, might have fainted at home and been unable to switch on her mobile phone. He had then met Chan's mother every day to look for her, sometimes even with one of her former boyfriends.
