Who's behind it? Creator Marie-Helene Rogeon was born into a family of perfumers. Her great-grandfather Louis Panafieu created Eau de Cologne for Emperor Napoleon III.

Rogeon's grandparents also created fragrances for Paul Poiret, a French fashion designer. Poiret established Les Parfums de Rosine in 1911 - named after his eldest daughter, Rosine. The line produced about 30 scents before disappearing from the market.

In 1991 the brand was reintroduced by Rogeon with new fragrances created by perfumer Francois Robert. For the first 15 years the brand launched fragrances for Givenchy, Pierre Balmain and Jean Deprez. Rogeon recently decided to live out her own experience by creating her own perfume company.

What's the spin? The fragrances are all based around the rose. Rogeon says she finds inspiration from her rose garden. 'It's my passion. There are so many different kinds of roses - they all have different smells, colours and shapes from fruity to citrusy and sometimes roses are mixed with other components such as mint, saffron and coriander.' Rogeon says she started out with one rose bush but now her garden has grown to more than 200 and she needs a gardener to look after them.

Anything else? Bottles are wrapped in coloured tissue paper and wear a handmade silk tassle. The fragrances are also available as soaps, candles and body creams.
