A mixed bag
Some students in a primary school in Yeung Long have replaced their weighty rucksacks with an electronic schoolbag.
In my opinion, electronic schoolbags can enhance a student's motivation to study. They are also convenient since students won't need to carry a weighty rucksack.
Some students may not have good computer skills though, so they can't follow the teachers' instructions easily.
I want to use a normal schoolbag rather than an electronic schoolbag since my computer skills are not so good.

Well done Nobel Prize winners
Nobel Prizes were given out recently to those who have made groundbreaking discoveries that will change the world. Although our lives have advanced over the past few centuries, there's still room for new inventions.
For example, the prize winners in physics, France's Albert Fert and Germany's Peter Gruenberg, have
made a breakthrough in nanotechnology to store a huge amount of data in a smaller space. As iPods are popular for listening to music, their discovery is important.
I think everyone should thank the prize winners for their work and dedication.

Make trade fair
Imagine you were a farmer in a developing country. You have a hard time growing crops but have no choice since you are poor and have to earn money to take care of your family. You work harder than others in rich countries but earn less - that's unfair, isn't it? If you think so then the answer is to support Fairtrade.
You can support this programme in many ways, for example, by buying Fairtrade products and encouraging others to do so.

Bullying can kill
Bullying is an act that makes others unhappy. It sometimes seems that bullying is not too serious, but some cases in the UK have shown that it can be fatal. Victims feel depressed and the act hurts them psychologically. In extreme cases, victims have committed suicide.
Life is precious. Next time you want to bully others think about the consequences.

Read all about it
Do you read a newspaper every day? Reading a newspaper is my habit and I do it every day. Newspapers are a good medium to provide news. If we don't have time to watch the news on TV, we can read a newspaper instead.
Also, reading a newspaper can improve our reading speed. If we read more, we will understand the passages faster. It can also improve our writing.
Students should read newspapers more often.

The best of both worlds
Some reports say Chinese-medium school students have a lower chance of entering university than those from English-medium schools. The findings were based on three studies conducted by the Chinese University.
The government's decision to change the language medium of secondary schools from English to Chinese has raised concern among parents. Some have decided to send their children abroad to learn English. In my opinion, the language policy should be more flexible so secondary schools can choose the most suitable language for their students.

Don't waste money Many of my friends like going shopping and they always buy lots of clothes and shoes. Do they really need all these things?
One of them even said she only wears her clothes once.
'I throw them away afterwards - they aren't new anymore,' she said.
That's a total waste of money.
Teenagers shouldn't waste money because they are still financially dependent on their parents.   We should not make unnecessary purchases and we should learn to save money.
Every time you want to buy something, think twice. Is it really worth buying? Is it useful? If you can control yourself when shopping, you are a smart consumer.

Play it smart
Study is just like playing basketball.
I love playing basketball as I think it's a sport that can enhance confidence and patience.
When studying we should be more patient and have more confidence.
As my mum sometimes tells me: 'Having confidence is a basic condition when doing things, no matter if you'll be successful or not.'
You can get good results if you show more patience.
So far I'm still seeking a good way to make myself concentrate when studying. I hope I can succeed soon.

Watch your step
Dancing is a great hobby. One of my classmates loves dancing but her family is poor. Lessons are expensive but that hasn't put her off. She took up a part- time job to earn money.
However much you love to dance, you should consider real life - dancing can't earn much money. Dreams are important but we should also think about real-life problems.
