Connecting with teens around the world Name Kelly Allison Joy Age 17 City Danvers, Massachusetts Star sign Capricorn I live in Danvers, in the Boston suburbs. It's a fairly typical town, with a mix of flats, huge mansions and regular houses. Our autmnn is cool; there is tons of snow in winter; spring is still cold; and summers are very hot. What I like best about my country is the freedom to do whatever you want - within reason, of course! July 4 is the most important day in the USA because it's Independence Day. We celebrate with fireworks. In my opinion, most American teenagers are very superficial and materialistic. English is my first language, but I can also speak French, Spanish, Italian, Albanian, Greek and Urdu! I love school. I see my best friends every day, and because I'm usually very talkative in class, I love lessons, too. I take Spanish, calculus, English, world history, health, biology and chemistry, and I usually spend an hour on homework. I take part in almost every extra-curricular activity, and I run cross-country and track, swim and play lacrosse. Running isn't all that exciting - I prefer to dance in my spare time - but cross-country is still my favourite sport because when you run, it's the best high there is. There are five people in my family. I'm close to my mom, sister and brother, but my dad and I don't talk as much. I like all types of music, but pop is my favourite. And I love watching movies, especially love stories. I'm always spending time with my friends - I can't even go on holiday without bringing one of them with me. I hang out with my friends at their houses and at the beach, and we usually just chill out and talk. I spend most holidays at my friend Amanda's house. I guess my best friend Andrew is my idol, because he's a genius and a musical prodigy, as well as the coolest kid I know. I wear strictly American brands such as Hollister, American Eagle, and Abercrombie and Fitch - I'm very preppy. My friends say I'm very outgoing and have an 'interesting' personality. When I grow up, I either want to be famous, or be a nurse. I've been to Mexico before, but never to Hong Kong. I'd love to go - I've heard great things about it.
