Stargate: Continuum (DVD/ Blu-Ray)
Fans of the cancelled sci-fi show Stargate SG-1 will be pleased to hear a second and supposedly final movie will be released later this month on DVD and Blu-Ray, wrapping up some of the last loose ends.
After a 10-year run on cable television in the US, the longest-running sci-fi show in American television history was cancelled, leaving a major storyline and many sub-plots unresolved. Thankfully, the direct-to-DVD movie Stargate: The Ark of Truth finished off the main story arc to the satisfaction of many fans.
In the newest movie (another direct-to-DVD release), Stargate: Continuum, another loose end is addressed as Ba'al, the last of the Goa'uld System lords, is to be executed. But Ba'al still has a trick up his sleeve to save himself and become ruler of the universe at the same time.
He sends a clone of himself and a bunch of loyal followers back in time and stops the Stargate programme from ever happening, thus changing history. Luckily, SG-1 are unaffected by the timeline change and try to prevent Baal from taking over the universe.
This movie also marks the last appearance of Don S. Davis, who passed away on June 29. He played Cheyenne Mountain Air force base commander General George Hammond for the first seven seasons of Stargate: SG-1.
Special features include audio commentary by executive producer/writer Brad Wright and director Martin Wood, the making of Stargate: Continuum featurette, Stargate Goes to the Arctic featurette and The Layman's Guide to Time Travel featurette.
