Four Seasons Hong Kong spa director Helen Greene offers advice on cellulite reduction.
'Unfortunately, there's no quick fix for cellulite. You need to drink enough water to flush the toxins out of your body. Regular exercise is great for muscle tone and helps to firm and trim your muscles. Pay attention to your diet - get plenty of fibre to flush out the toxins, salts and sugar. Eat enough fruit and vegetables, and always cook fresh. Maintain a constant healthy weight - don't let your weight fluctuate because doing so puts a strain on the collagen fibres and that is not good for your appearance.
'Use a cactus bristle brush for daily skin brushing. This is great for cellulite and good for moving the lymphatic system around to flush body fluids through so they don't get stagnant. Always brush upwards towards the heart.
'Exfoliate at least two times a week. This will give an even impression to the skin and is good for getting an even tan. Use self-tanning lotion, which is great for a slimmer appearance too.
'Have regular massages to stimulate circulation at least once a week. And use essential oils for detox and draining - try juniper berry, black pepper and rosemary, which bring warmth and stimulate circulation.
'Cellulite improvement involves doing a combination of all of these things. Don't forget you need some positive thinking and plenty of sleep.'
