Fashion brands aren't the only ones that have to stay a season ahead, now makeup labels have to do the same. With the blazing summer heat, French cosmetic name Guerlain hosted an autumn/winter makeup demo of its new Jeu de Dames collection at IFC Mall on Tuesday afternoon with celebrity makeup artist Gary Chung Yuk-wa (right). Chung's fame came to full prominence when Cathy Chui Chi-kei chose him to do her makeup for her marriage to Henderson Land heir Martin Lee Ka-shing last December. 'If you want to be a makeup artist today, you have to be comprehensive,' Chung said. 'When I first started my career 12 years ago I was mainly working behind the scenes, but now I am required to educate the new blood at schools, do corporate training and makeup demos for the media at events like today's product launch. And I love it.' Chung moaned that too many people had no idea about their own skin, and blindly followed celebrities and their commercials. 'If you have oily skin, you can't use too creamy moisturising products, which will give you more pimples. So you should really listen to your own skin.' Instead, he says, you should listen to him. 'Our words are more convincing because we are the professionals.' And what is his advice? 'Believe it or not, I just clean my face every day and I don't even use lotion. I am a lazy guy, I'd rather sleep more.'
