What drives it? A 4.7-litre twin-supercharged, rear mid-engine V8 with a six-speed Cima manual box and a twin plate clutch, and rear-wheel drive on Michelin's Pilot Sport 2 unidirectional tyres.

Weight distribution: 45 per cent front; 55 per cent rear.

How fast is it? Quick. The block bangs out 806 brake horsepower at 6900rpm and 919Nm of torque, says the Swedish marque, promising sprints to 100km/h in 3.2 seconds, 200km/h in 14 seconds and a top speed of 395km/h.

Is it the fastest thing on four wheels? Nearly. Last year the CCX was the fastest car to complete a lap of the BBC Top Gear circuit, in a time of 1:17:6, until it was beaten by the Ascari A10, with a time of 1:17.3.

Aerodynamics: It has a drag coefficient of 0.32, a flat chassis underside, downforce of 100kg at 250 km/h and Venturi tunnels at the rear.

How safe is it? You can stop from 100km/h in 32 metres on the 362mm, six-piston-caliper cast iron brakes and achieve 1.3G in lateral G-force.
