A vegetable vendor who claimed to be responsible for two bus bombings in the southwestern city of Kunming was arrested on charges of making and spreading false rumours to instigate fear, reports said.
The man, a 23-year-old Hubei native surnamed Wang, was arrested on Thursday in Yangzhou , Jiangsu province , mainland media said yesterday.
He had posted messages in several major mainland internet forums, claiming to have planned and carried out the bombings, which killed two people and injured 14 last Monday.
He also warned that he would 'carry out more bombings soon', the Yangzi Evening News reported.
Mainland police traced the messages to the computer from which it had been sent, the newspaper said.
When police turned up at the man's flat to arrest him, they allegedly found him writing more terror messages.
According to the report, Wang later confessed that he had posted the messages on the internet, but said he did it for fun.
