A Democratic Party candidate has been disqualified from September's Legislative Council election for failing to inform the electoral office of her new address.

Beatrice Chu Shun-nga was ranked second on the ticket headed by the party's chairman, Albert Ho Chun-yan, in the New Territories West geographical constituency.

She moved home this year, and lost her right to vote because she had not re-registered as a voter after moving.

The party yesterday resubmitted nomination papers with Ms Chu's name removed from the ticket. She was replaced by research officer Ted Hui Chi-fung, with Tuen Mun district councillor Lo Man-hon placed third on the ticket.

Under election rules, a candidate for a geographical constituency must be a registered voter.

A spokesman of the Registration and Electoral Office said candidates' qualifications were checked soon after they filed their nomination papers.
