A compact, easy-going mystery tale for young teen female readers looking for undemanding entertainment, Nevermore comes to a neat, if somewhat unbelievable, conclusion.
Twelve-year-old Tizzie Furlong has an uneasy relationship with her single mother. Her mum seems incapable of settling down, and poor Tizzie is dragged from town to town, school to school, friend to friend with monotonous regularity. Now it's time for yet another move. Tizzie's mum has a job as a cook in a big house in the countryside. Tizzy has to pack her bags, leave her friends and follow her mum out of London to the middle of nowhere.
The job is at Roven Mere, a rambling mansion with a park, lake and all the other trappings. It isn't long before Tizzie senses all is not as it seems at Roven Mere. To start with, the house is unoccupied and no one knows when its owner, Lord Rupert, is going to take up residence.
Like any heroine in a mysterious old house, Tizzie begins to explore. She finds out that Lord Rupert has a young daughter called Greta. Does she really exist and will she and Tizzie become friends when she finally comes to Roven Mere?
