Born: July 5, 1983 (Zheng); November 12, 1984 (Yan) in Sichuan

Entry: Doubles

Credentials: Winners at Australian Open and Wimbledon in 2006; semi-final at 2008 Wimbledon singles (Zheng)

Why they'll win: Because Zheng is fit and in the form of her life. 2006 was a huge year for Chinese tennis, as Zheng and Yan took China's first major title at the Australian Open and followed it up at Wimbledon. This was meant to be the start of something special, culminating in regaining the Olympic doubles title won by Li Ting and Sun Tiantian in Athens, but then injuries disrupted the momentum. In May last year, Zheng broke her ankle and was sidelined for six months. 'I missed Yan very much when I was in hospital,' says Zheng. 'Now, win or lose, I enjoy every single second playing with her.' Zheng's comeback culminated in her fairy-tale journey to this year's Wimbledon semi-finals, while Yan reached a career-high singles ranking of 40 in May.

Who can stop them: Chuang Chia-jung/Chan Yung-jan (Taiwan); Venus and Serena Williams (US)

Final: Sunday, August 17th.
