Hongkongers' favourite local brand - the one they would recommend to overseas and mainland visitors - is not a fashion chain or a designer label, but a theme park.
In a city renowned for its devotion to brand-name goods, respondents to a survey chose Ocean Park as their most popular 'brand', ahead of electronics appliance chain Broadway and listed fashion chain I.T.
Ocean Park and Broadway also scored highly for innovative design in the City University survey, coming second and third behind the MTR.
A brand-management expert said the results showed branding did not have to be expensive.
Commissioned by the Hong Kong Design Centre, the university's researchers interviewed 2,520 Hong Kong residents, aged 15 to 70, in May.
Fifty-two per cent were female, 41 per cent had a monthly income of between HK$10,000 and HK$20,000 and 43 per cent earned less than HK$10,000.
