P.S. I Love You Soundtrack (CD)

F ans of the heart-wrenching book and film P.S. I Love You will love the soundtrack. The story is a tear-jerker: a widow named Holly receives packages from her late husband who plans a way to help her cope with the grief before he dies.

The 16 tracks on the CD mirror the story. But like many soundtracks, there are hits and misses. The album opens with Love You till the End by The Pogues. The music, with melancholic guitar chords and repetition of 'I love you till the end', represents the husband's death. It's followed by James Blunt's Same Mistake, a soft ballad featuring the singer's haunting vocals.

Everything We Had by The Academic Is ... is an epic, soft-rock piece with touching lyrics. Nellie McKay's P.S. I Love You is a song written specially for the movie. Anyone other than hardcore fans may find it boring.

The album is great for lovers of the book or the movie. For anyone else, it's a collection of moderately good pop with little excitement.
