Who created it? Newly opened in Hong Kong, Zadig & Voltaire is the brainchild of Frenchman Thierry Gillier, who is also the brand's creative director. After graduating with an art and media degree from New York's Bard College, Gillier went on to develop knitwear collections for brands such as Thierry Mugler, Yves Saint Laurent and Michael Klein during the 1980s. In 1997, he launched Zadig, focusing on knitwear before expanding to include accessories, watches and lingerie, among other items. Fans of the brand include stylish actors Chloe Sevigny and Charlotte Gainsborough.
Why we love it: aside from its cool knitwear and cashmere (these are Gillier's areas of expertise, after all), the French chain is known for stocking chic staples with a rock 'n' roll edge. Sexy and tough, expect items such as boyfriend-style blazers, worn-in leather jackets, thin tees and slouchy T-shirt dresses.
For autumn, there are three distinct styles: the androgynous female, the trendy rock star and the glam gal. Expect structured jackets and super-loose cardigans worn with dark denim. Striped tees are emblazoned with words such as 'Just Rock' and 'Muse' and paired with leather biker pants and a cool leather jacket. For the evening there are chic dresses under tailored fitted jackets.
What we'd pick: any of the sheer tops (left; HK$1,100 each) or the rock inspired fitted blazer with matching skinny trousers (above; HK$2,350).
