Whatever their academic achievements, young students want to see their dreams fulfilled. And, for students who feel they are not suited to traditional methods of learning, vocational training could give them the perfect start.
Two such students are Chan Yiu-wing and Ada Yim Lok-yan. Both left conventional schooling to study at the Vocational Training Council (VTC).
Although they studied different disciplines at different VTC schools, they both agreed that pursuing their dream subjects in a stress-free environment was the right decision.
Chan, who is studying the Higher Diploma in digital film and television at VTC's Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI), realised that traditional study with a focus on public examinations did not suit him.
He had recognised his own talent as an actor from a young age. And, at secondary school, he was engaged in several acting roles.
However, it wasn't until he joined the HKDI that he was introduced to the broader sense of these performing arts.
