The report 'East Turkestan movement says oppression fuels unrest' published on the Xinjiang attack pages on Tuesday incorrectly identifies Dilxadi Rexiti as a spokesman for the East Turkestan Islamic Movement and incorrectly quoted Mr Rexiti. Mr Rexiti is the spokesman for the World Uygur Congress, which is a mainstream Uygur rights group advocating peaceful settlement of the Xinjiang issue. Mr Rexiti and his organisation have no relations with the ETIM and the World Uygur Congress condemns all forms of violence. We apologise for the error.
In the story headlined 'No intelligence that HK is terror target, says security chief', on the Xinjiang attack pages yesterday, it was incorrectly stated that the suspected terrorist attack in Kashgar took place on Tuesday. The attack occurred on Monday.
