Canto-pop singer Leo Ku Kui-kei has recorded a single titled Our Rainbow with former gymnast Sang Lan (above right with Ku), to inspire others with Sang's story.
Sang, 27, who was a member of China's national women's gymnastics team, suffered severe spinal injuries when she fell while competing at the Goodwill Games in New York in 1998 and was paralysed from the waist down.
'I think this song is especially meaningful, as it's released 10 years after her accident,' Ku said.
Despite her disability, Sang completed a degree in journalism at Peking University and she hosts her own show, Sang Lan Olympics 2008, on Star TV.
Sang was back in the US last month as an ambassador for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Beijing and she expressed her interest in returning to competitive sports at the Paralympics in the future.
Sang and Ku became friends after Sang's accident. The 35-year-old singer admired Sang's braveness and optimism, even though she's now wheelchair-bound.
