At last week's Anime, Comics and Games convention (ACGHK 2008), fans were treated to a performance by Hironobu Kageyama, an anime theme song (or 'anison') singer who was in Hong Kong to promote his Asian tour with JAM Project, a group of famous anison singers.

The anison super group will be performing in Korea, Beijing and Shanghai, with a performance in Hong Kong on October 7.

Founded in 2000 by famous 1970s theme song artist Ichirou Mizuki (Marzinger Z, Getta Robo and Captain Harlock), Jam Project is currently recording the theme song for the new Super Robot Wars Z game due out in September and for an anime movie that's coming out in October.

Other members include Masaaki Endoh (Daigunder, GARO), Masami Okui (Di Gi Charat, Slayers) and Yoshiki Fukuyama (Macross 7).

Famous among local fans for singing the theme songs to Dragon Ball Z, Shin Getta Robo and Saint Seiya, Kageyama wowed the ACGHK otakus with those hits.

JAM Project hasn't performed as a group in any of the cities on their tour, and none of the members has ever visited Beijing. With the Olympics currently being held there, Kageyama says he is anxious and curious to see what Beijing is like.
