2,600 Viets refuse food

ALL 2,600 boat people at the High Island Vietnamese detention centre refused food yesterday. A government spokesman said Correctional Services Department staff did not serve meals in the camp.

He said many of the boat people refused the ''official food'' but most of them had their own supplies. Hunger strikes on a smaller scale in protest against the repatriation policy continued in the other two main Vietnamese detention centres yesterday.
